|
The "Never Alone Foundation" is a non-profit organization established to help those living in the southern Colorado area suffering from the debilitating symptoms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
(IBD). Our emphasis is on helping children, young adults, and their families cope with the medical, financial, and emotional distress of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. We will also have support for adults. The medical support includes but is not limited to: helping with physician networking, discussing treatment options, and aiding in nutritional education. We will work closely with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America utilizing their resources. It must be emphasized that NAF was not established to take the place of the medical profession. Financially, the "Never Alone Foundation" has funds to help with doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription medication, transportation needs, and eventually provide scholarship money to a deserving young patient who may qualify to attend the National Crohn's and Colitis summer camp as directed by the executive board. The emotional support comes from others who struggle with the demands of both these diseases. Our organization is made up of those already suffering from IBD and their family members. We hope to offer a shoulder on which to lean or an ear with which to hear through the ups and downs of these diseases. This will allow experiences to be shared and give patients and their families the comfort of knowing they are not alone. Through fundraising events and donations, we try to raise awareness of IBD and the prevalence of it in southeastern Colorado, especially among our young community. Southern Colorado struggles with limited resources and the goal of this organization is to improve the quality of life for all associated with IBD! |

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Recently we were able to donate a large sum of money to Colorado's own Susan Williams, a Crohn's disease sufferer, for a potentially life-saving operation. Our prayers are with you, Susan. Over $5,000 have been donated to CCFA for medical research since 2006. Over $2,000 in college scholarships have been awarded since 2008. *** 2009 CCFA Pediatric Education Symposium On November 18th, 2009, Robin Grasso presented an inspirational piece called "Inspiring Hope - A Patient's Story" to parents of youngsters with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at CCFA's 2009 Pediatric Education Symposium. This event featured motivational stories by Robin, David Layden, Darla Layden, and Jim Grasso. Special thanks to Heather Fodor, Mikhail Martin, Spencer Adamson, Kacey Swentzell, Sean Jubic, and the Chancellor's Leadership Class at UCCS for contributing their success stories and volunteer assistance for the event!
